In this world, there is fact and there is fiction. Sometimes the two dimensions intertwine and we lose the sense of what is true. It is the job of the media to inform the general public, but when it is okay for the media to decide what we are allowed to know and what we aren’t? The media decides what articles we read in the newspapers, what picture we see in the magazines, and what we hear on the news. They have become a force to be reckond with. Ask any person in the media and you might be surprised to find that their focus isn’t investigating and informing, but ratings and revenue. Some journalists have even taken to accepting bribes from major political campaignes in return for a positive word on television. Our media today is all about the negative aspects in life. We hear about another school shooting, major drug bust, murder, kidnapping, rape, attack, perhaps even the bashing of another reputation. I believe that in order to be called a journalist, you must investigate and inform the general public about real topics, topics that matter and make a differnece.  If you are only looking to make a quick buck or get attention from a large crowd, this isn’t a career for you. Journalists care about the public. We tell the truth and let you know of the positive things in life, as well as move people with the life stories of those who are less fortuanate. We bring together groups of diverse people with a variety of opinions for the good of society. We inform. We are real journalists.
